Speculation that the new Verizon iPhone 4 might be available in the colour white got a lot of attention over recent weeks, with some industry insiders believing that Apple would do something attention-grabbing like offering a colour change for a product that was being “launched” mid-cycle. Whether it would be available exclusively to Verizon customers or whether it would be available across both networks was hotly debated.
Apple neither confirmed nor denied the rumours, as was to be expected, but when the Verizon iPhone 4 launch
came and went with no new colours on offer, speculation returned to whether the next generation of iPhone, the iPhone 5, would be available in white, and when.
Some argue that due to the Verizon offering this year, Apple will likely hold off longer than usual in putting out the iPhone 5 so that new customers who have just bought the iPhone 4 won’t be disappointed with their purchase, which may put a release date into the Fall or even into 2012. Others think that if the iPhone 5 was going to be delayed, Apple would have introduced a white iPhone 4 for the Verizon launch, which was their last chance to do so — and so we will finally see a white iPhone 5 as early as this summer.
It is expected that the iPhone 5 will have a minimum 64GB of memory, and will be the thinnest model yet.
